Nationally known enactor and historian Brian “Fox” Ellis will come ashore from a steamboat in Grafton in the person of John James Audubon, America’s foremost 19th century naturalist and artist to speak on “Audubon in early Illinois.” Peoria Illinois-based Ellis is an educator and professional storyteller who has been studying Audubon's journals for years. A “Road Scholar” for the Illinois Humanities Council, expect Ellis in this lecture to make Audubon's encounters with the wildlife of 1811 Illinois come alive. His first person living history talk will use Audubon's journals, letters, and scientific essays to explore the scientific method, art history, and bird migration in the early 1800s. It is a presentation sure to satisfy all ages. Refreshments will be served following the lecture.
